It is pretty much common knowledge at the moment that Apple has been struggling a little with some of its feature siri while working well isn’t as ground breaking as Apple would have hoped. Then of course the bigger failure which Apple had to apologise for the release of their maps software before it was ready, with roads and other information missing inaccurate place names. Even Doncaster was spelt Duncaster and that is quite a big place here in the UK. Either way all of these were the responsibility of Scott Forstall so when it came for Apple to apologise for the maps situation Scott apparently refused to sign it and this was left to the CEO Tim Cook to sign which was the beginning of the end for Scott.
It is also coming to light that he was very well liked by the other senior executives working at Apple, with some reports saying he was abrasive and widely disliked. It is also widely known that Forstall is one of the largest crusaders for Apple UI choices over the last couple of years. Which are considered by many of the design community as state and out dated.
As it goes this maybe good news for Apple because their legendary design figurehead Johnny Ive is taking over with the UI design which means that there will be a reduction in his and many other people’s pet hates of the wood, paper and leather binding that seems to be on every iOS app at the moment. This could breath a fresh breath into Apple’s mobile OS.
