The internet has been ablaze today on the launch day of the iPhone 5 with obvious high sales and queues all going in Apple’s favour, they weren’t quite expecting the back lash they would get from the arrival of their Maps software in iOS 6.
The internet has been over run of images of the maps service where the location is wrong, places are missing or the images just has loaded correctly. I found one myself when I tried to search for Doncaster and it returns Duncaster, as you can see from the image below:
As often happens someone has already made a website for all the mistakes and poorly loaded maps for everyone to see.
Apple has been very quick to jump on this potential PR disaster releasing this statement to All things D:
“Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new features including Apple Maps, our first map service … We are excited to offer this service with innovative new features like Flyover, turn by turn navigation, and Siri integration. We launched this new map service knowing it is a major initiative and that we are just getting started with it. Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better.”
