iPhone 5 rumours suggest it will have a thinner better quality screen

The Wall Street Journal reports that they have received information from a source close to Apple that they will be using a new technology in their iPhone 5 device, the technology in question is called ‘in-cell’ technology and it actually integrates the touch screen technology into the LCD. This means that their would only be one layer to the screen instead of the current two. Apple will be able to make the device noticeable thinner if the rumour is correct.

The WSJ article reports that the production of the screen has already started mass production.

Japanese liquid-crystal-display makers Sharp Corp. and Japan Display Inc.—a new company that combined three Japanese electronics makers’ display units—as well as South Korea’s LG Display Co. are currently mass producing panels for the next iPhone using so-called in-cell technology, the people said.
