Apple releases stand alone podcasting app

podcast appIn a hope to declutter the slightly over bearing iTunes store Apple has released a stand alone app for listening and downloading podcasts. The app will act as a hub for all your podcasts so the music app can just concentrate on music. An eagle eyed reader over at Macrumors stopped that there is a redeem button which suggests that Apple intends to release paid podcasts in the future.

- Stream episodes or download to listen while offline
- Skip forward and back using simple playback controls
- Turn on Sleep Timer to automatically stop playing a podcast while listening in bed
- Share your favorite episodes with friends using Twitter, Messages and Mail
- Optionally sync your favorite episodes from iTunes on your Mac or PC
- Sync your episode playback for seamless transition between devices
