“1998: The Year of Thinking Different” book Signed by Steve Jobs on ebay

An ex-creative director from the now defunct Apple marketing agency is selling a little piece of Apple history.
When Steve Jobs left Apple and founded NEXT, some other members of Apple left and started a marketing agency called CKS Partners. Steve Jobs later went back to Apple and wanted to work with his original creative team so hired a company called CKS Partners to become the creative marketing arm of Apple. I was hired by CKS partners and was assigned to the Apple account.  For many many years I met with Steve Jobs, many times a month to get creative work approved. This book was created by CKS and was a give-away item at the launch of the iMac in Cupertino. Apple also had an advertising agency called TBWA/Chiat-Day and CKS and TBWA were working together to create the “Think Different” campaign. I personally created some of the think different spots and one day I went to PIXAR (Steve was often working there) to get his approval for the ‘Snail’ TV spot.  I had this book with me and I was flipping through it, waiting for Steve.  When he came in, he watched the Snail spot twice and said “I love it,” “it’s perfect” – when he was in a good mood he made me feel like I was his best friend.  Anyway, just coincidentally the timing was right, he was happy, I had this book open and there was a sharpie.  I handed it to him and said “would you sign this?”  He made a joke about it “not secretly being an NDA, right” and we both laughed.   My price is much more reasonable than the $1.6 million Sotheby’s just fetched for Steve’s signature, but a bit more than the $28,000 signed iPod.
